Anotace: The paper deals with Aquinas's conception of relation. Our main aim is to show there is a real distinction between relation and its fundament. In order to meet the target we divide our paper into two basic parts. Firstly, we explain some important traits of Aquinas theory of relation, namely the legacy of Aristotle as the main source on which Aquinas draws; the formal cause of relation and the issue of two metaphysical components of a relation. Secondly, we argue that a relation and its foundation are really distinct.
