Anotace: This article brings the results of the study aimed on the lower secondary school pupils‘knowledge in the area of agriculture literacy. Agriculture literacy could be defined as an ability to understand cultivation practices and their impact of our lives. Data were collected by application of the questionnaire method. In a total 462 pupils of 8th grade from 20 schools participated in this research. The results gained pointed out that the pupils’ knowledge in the focused area fails to reach a high level. Statistically insignificant influence of education carried out in the school garden on the level of pupils’ knowledge in focused area was found. However, pupils’ knowledge varied significantly among the individual schools. A positive finding are the results based on students' attitudes to work in the school garden.
