Anotace:
The present paper is especially focused on the content of education of the teacher of English
(as the most important subjective factor of the process of teaching) which is analysed from the
perspective of Widdowson’s pragmatics of language pedagogy according to which the teacher
is a mediator between relevant linguistic disciplines and the didactic system. In this respect the
education of the English language teacher should be realized from the point of view of teaching
English as communication which is embodied in the so-called communicative approach that can
be defined as a set of specific principles, and its principles as such determine both the planning
and the realization of the teaching/learning process.
