Anotace:
The article “The Czech calls me but I do not obey” analyzes the work of Milan
Kundera from the point of view of language. Looking at translations the article
shows Kundera\s concern for every word used. His interest in linguistic and
philosophical reflections of some words led to the creation of a small dictionary included in the collection of essays entitled The Art of the Novel in 1986.
Kundera also introduces his reflections into his novels. The example of the novel
Ignorance also shows his relationship to his native country. His own decision not
to return is paradoxically and symbolically overtaken by founding of the Milan
Kundera’s Library in Brno, his hometown.
