Anotace:
The article Teaching mediation as a communicative activity concerns itself with
mediation asone ofthefour modes ofcommunication defined bytheCEFRL and
thepossibilities ofincorporating mediation inforeign language teaching. Thetext
sums up key findings of the author’s research of mediation tasks carried out
forthepurposes ofher Master’s thesis. Italso briefly introduces themain theoretical
foundations upon which theresearch was based, i.e., theillustrative descriptors
formediation published intheCEFRL’s Companion Volume in2018 and theresults
ofMaria Stathopoulou’s statistical analysis ofmediation tasks. The article’s main
objective is to familiarise language teachers with mediation as a skill acquired
byaforeign language learner and with pivotal principles ofdesigning amediation
task.
