Anotace:
The paper follows how and in what context the development of Czech modern art was characterized by two leading theorizing artists: painters Miloš Jiránek and Emil Filla. Special attention is paid to their conception of the Czechness of art, which they both dealt with. In his thinking, Filla was basically directly following Jiránek, but the dramatic political circumstances that were projected into his view, whether willingly or unwillingly, shifted his thoughts in a different direction.
