Anotace:
Material standards of commercial aluminium alloys are
the key documents for casting producers as well as
for their customers. compliance with the prescribed
chemical composition of alloys should be the basis for
achieving their constant and reproducible properties.
Material standards, however, in many cases tolerate
additive contents in alloys in a relatively wide range,
which can lead to very significant differences in their
microstructure and properties. the differences in
microstructure and mechanical properties of 5 chosen
commercial aluminium alloys with chemical composition
both on the low and the high limit of the contents
of additive elements prescribed by their material
standard are documented in this work. the probability
of occurrence of alloys with such an extreme composition
is not high in practice but it is good to know
how the differences in chemical composition of alloys
affect their properties. the differences in mechanical
properties are even more pronounced after their recommended
heat treatment.
