Anotace:
The paper investigates the role of grammar in teaching French for advanced students from the
view of functional, communicational and contrastive approaches (interlingual and intralingual)
with the aim to increase communicative competence of students in their daily and professional
communications. It refers to acquisition of correct communicative habits for their own production
in French and to correct choice of suitable linguistic means based on functionally syntactic
synonymous reformulations in French. We emphasize comprehensive understanding of grammatical
means in contextual relations, elimination of linguistic interference and practising syntactically
more concise forms of utterance which are typical for French.
