The article describes and analyses the linguistic situation in Equatorial Guinea.
The focus is placed not only on the demography and the history, but also on the linguistic situation and the linguistic politics of this territory. The main official language of Equatorial Guinea is Spanish, language of education and administration.
In 1998, French was declared the second official language and in 2011, Equatorial
Guinea established Portuguese as a third official language of the Republic. Aboriginal languages are recognized as integral parts of the national culture
