Anotace:
The paper outlines the life and discusses the poetry of Ezra (Loomis) Pound
(1885–1972), one of the most distinguished and influential as well as contro‑

responsible for defining and promoting a Modernist aesthetic in poetry in English.
Early in his career, Pound aroused controversy because of his aesthetic views and
later, because of his political views, including his support for the Fascist govern‑
ment in Italy. Three of his poems in the originals and their Czech translations are
included to illustrate his writings
