Drevený vodný žľab v doline Rakytovo pri Dolnom Harmanci – významné lesnícke miesto ako potenciál na rekreáciu a vzdelávanie

Anotace: This paper examines the cultural heritage constructed for floating extracted wood: the Rakytovo Water Channel by Dolný Harmanec. This channel is the forestry-created technical monument from the 19th century in the original environment of the Veľká Fatra Mountains and it is used for floating fuel wood. It is a very unique monument documenting the forestry patterns of the past and the skills of the forestry workers. Herein, we assess the localisation and construction elements of the channel and the methods employed in floating the wood. We then describe the developments of the city forests from 1255 which enabled their use and the modes of wood-transportation. This development relies heavily on the activities of their owner city of Banská Bystrica and the manager of the Mestské Lesy Banská Bystrica cultural heritage company which presided over its rescue. The reconstruction of this channel was completed in 2006 and it has been used in tourism since 2007. Finally, the characteristics of this channel are then compared to similar global constructions.
