Anotace:
Silica sands are the most commonly used
base sands in foundries of the Czech-Slovak
provenance. Their technological limits are
usually dealt with applying of non-silica base
sands. Chromite or zirconsilicate are most
often met in foundries. Non-silica base sands
based on aluminosilicates represent a group
of base sands which can fully replace the
traditionally used non-silica base sands with
regard to the possibility of mixing them with
the silica sands and the situation with the cost
of commonly used non-silica base sands they
become even economically available. The aim
of this contribution is the basic characteristics
of chosen base sands based on aluminosilicates
and their comparison with traditional non-silica
base sands. Case studies for chosen binder
systems are given too.
